Quick answer

Compare two job offers on effective annual value, per-day and hourly rates, commute cost and weighted scores — with a break-even salary line, computed locally.

A bigger headline salary is the most common trap in job hunting. Job Finder built the Job Offer Comparator because two offers that look Rs 7,000 apart on the advertisement can be Rs 60,000 apart once festival bonus, employer SSF or PF contribution, daily commute and unpaid extra hours are priced in. The tool puts the two offers side by side, converts every term of the letter into one effective annual value, and then re-derives what that value means per working day and per hour — the two numbers that reveal which offer actually pays more for the same day of your life.

The verdict is not purely financial, so the comparator adds a weighted scoring layer: money, work-life balance (paid leave, commute time, commute cost and daily hours) and learning & growth, with sliders that shift when your priorities do. It also computes the break-even monthly gross — the salary the losing offer would need, on its own terms, to match the winner — which is exactly the number to carry into a salary negotiation. Everything runs inside your browser, nothing is uploaded or saved, and both a copy-ready summary and a printable comparison sheet are one tap away.

Job Offer Comparator — Offer A vs Offer B, Decided — Frequently Asked Questions

How the effective annual value, per-day rate and weighted verdict are computed — and what the tool deliberately does not do. Tap any question to expand.

How is the effective annual value calculated?

Effective annual value = (monthly gross × 12) + (gross × bonus months) + (gross × employer SSF/PF % × 12) + (allowances × 12) − (daily commute cost × working days per year). Working days per year = work days per week × 52 − paid leave days. It is a first-order comparison, not a tax computation — both offers stay on the same gross basis so the ranking remains fair.

Why does a higher salary sometimes lose the verdict?

Because the headline number hides three costs: commuting money (Rs 250 a day is about Rs 75,000 a year on a six-day week), commuting time (an extra hour a day is 300+ hours a year — nearly eight work weeks), and unpaid extra hours that silently lower your effective hourly rate. The per-working-day and per-hour rows expose offers that pay more but deliver less per day of your life.

What is the break-even salary line?

It answers the question you take into the negotiation: what monthly gross would the losing offer need — keeping its own bonus, SSF, allowances, leave and commute exactly as entered — to match the winner’s effective annual value? A small gap is a realistic ask; a large one means the verdict is structural and no negotiation closes it.

Are my salary figures uploaded anywhere?

No. Every comparison runs inside your browser the moment you press Compare — nothing is transmitted, saved or logged. Close the tab and the numbers are gone. Copy places a text summary on your clipboard and Print opens a self-contained comparison sheet from a local window; both work fully offline.

Why use Job Offer Comparator (Offer A vs B) on Job Finder?

Real value, not headline salary

Salary, bonus, employer SSF/PF and allowances in; commute cost out — one effective annual figure per offer so the ranking reflects what actually reaches your life.

Per-day and hourly honesty

Working days per year, pay per working day and effective hourly rate expose offers that look rich but thin out once unpaid hours and long commutes are counted.

Weighted verdict + break-even

Sliders for money, work-life and growth produce a weighted score with 0-100 bars, and the break-even line gives you the exact number to negotiate with.
