Quick answer
Estimated in-hand salary from gross under Nepal FY 2083/84 income-tax slabs with SSF/PF contributions, the capped retirement deduction, band-by-band breakdown and employer CTC — computed locally.
A salary line in an advertisement is never the number that reaches your bank account. Between SSF or PF deductions calculated on basic only, the festival allowance that arrives as a lump sum, and Nepal’s progressive income-tax bands withheld monthly as TDS, in-hand pay can sit far below gross — and two offers with identical headlines can pay very differently once the basic-to-allowance split and the retirement scheme are accounted for. The Salary Take-Home Calculator builds the whole bridge from gross to net, line by line, on one screen.
The estimate follows the Finance Act 2083/84 (FY 2026/27) individual schedule — 1% on the first Rs 10,00,000 of taxable income (the social-security-tax band, not levied on SSF contributors), then 10%, 20%, 27% and 29% — with the retirement deduction capped at the lowest of the contribution, Rs 500,000 or one-third of assessable income. You see the annual gross build-up, your contribution versus the employer’s, taxable income, the band-by-band tax table, monthly TDS, the effective rate and the employer CTC view — then copy the estimate or print a payslip-style sheet. Everything is computed inside your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Quick answers about how the tool works. Tap any question to expand.
Which tax rates does the calculator use?
The Finance Act 2083/84 (FY 2026/27) individual schedule for annual taxable income: 1% on the first Rs 10,00,000, 10% up to Rs 15,00,000, 20% up to Rs 25,00,000, 27% up to Rs 40,00,000 and 29% above. The single and couple tables were merged into one schedule this fiscal year. Output is a first-order estimate computed in your browser — payroll TDS can differ on insurance premiums, CIT and other deductions, so verify against IRD / your payslip.
Why is my colleague with the same gross taking home more?
Three levers move in-hand pay even at identical gross: the retirement scheme (SSF deducts 11% of basic, PF 10%, some employers none), the basic-to-allowance split (contributions are calculated on basic only, so a higher allowance share means smaller deductions), and the 1% social-security-tax band — it is not levied on SSF contributors, while employees outside SSF pay 1% on their first Rs 10,00,000 of taxable income.
How do SSF and PF contributions actually work?
Under the contribution-based Social Security Scheme the employee contributes 11% of basic salary and the employer 20% on top — 31% of basic in total across medical, accident, dependent-family and old-age protection. A traditional Provident Fund deducts 10% from you with the employer matching 10%. Both are retirement deductions for tax purposes, capped at the lowest of the actual contribution, Rs 500,000 or one-third of assessable income.
What counts as gross here — and why the festival month?
Enter figures the way offer letters state them: basic salary, other taxable allowances paid monthly, and festival bonus as months of basic. Nepali labour law entitles every employee to one month’s basic remuneration per year as a festival allowance, so the default is 1. Annual gross feeds the tax computation, while monthly take-home stays on the regular 12-month rhythm — the festival month lands as a lump sum.
