Quick answer

Total work experience in years, months and days from multiple job stints, with overlap-safe union or summed counting, per-stint breakdown and a printable sheet — computed locally.

Every Lok Sewa, bank and corporate application form asks the same deceptively simple question — total work experience in years, months and days — and it is the one field candidates get wrong most often. Stints overlap when a new job started before the old one ended, calendars jump between 28 and 31 days, and interviewers do notice when your claimed total disagrees with your certificates. Job Finder’s Work Experience Calculator does the arithmetic properly: each stint is measured calendar-correct, overlaps are detected automatically, and the union counting mode means any double-counted period is only ever counted once.

Two counting modes cover both conventions forms use: union (the honest total experience figure, the default) and sum (every stint counted in full, for forms that separate relevant-field experience from total employment). Beyond the headline number you get the summed figure for comparison, a total-months readout for forms that ask in months, your longest single stint, and a per-stint breakdown with exact date ranges. Copy the summary into your CV, print the experience sheet to keep beside the form — computed entirely inside your browser, with nothing uploaded or saved.

Quick answers about how the tool works. Tap any question to expand.

Why do I need a calculator for my own work history?

Because application forms ask for total experience in years, months and days — and mental date arithmetic across multiple employers is where mistakes happen. Calendars are irregular (28-31-day months, leap years), stints overlap when you switched jobs mid-month, and one wrong carry turns "3 yr 7 mo" into "4 yr 1 mo". The calculator does calendar-correct arithmetic per stint, then combines them the way your form expects, with a printable breakdown you can keep beside the form.

Union or sum — which mode should I choose?

Union merges overlapping stints so any double-counted period is counted once — the honest answer to "total experience" on government and private forms, and the default here. Sum adds every stint in full, which suits forms that separately ask for experience in a specific field and total employment period. If the two modes disagree you have overlapping dates; pick the mode the form’s wording implies.

How is the years / months / days figure computed?

Each stint is measured calendar-correct: the difference borrows the real length of the previous month when the day-of-month underflows, so 15 Mar 2021 to 10 Jun 2023 is exactly 2 yr 2 mo 26 dy. When several stints are combined, day remainders are carried at 30 days per month, the convention most forms and HR departments use; total days stay exact per stint. "Total months" for forms rounds the union span at the average month length of 30.44 days and is marked approximate.

Does it support BS dates, and where is my data kept?

Stint dates are entered in AD — convert Bikram Sambat letter dates first with the site’s Nepali Date Converter, then paste the AD values. Everything is computed inside your browser tab: nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored after you close the tab, and the print sheet is generated from a local window with no server round-trip.

Why use Work Experience Calculator on Job Finder?

Calendar-correct, overlap-safe

Per-stint math borrows real month lengths, and union mode counts overlapping periods once — the figure that survives interview scrutiny.

Two modes, both on screen

Union for the form’s "total experience" line, sum for field-specific experience — see both at once and pick the one the wording implies.

Form-ready outputs

Copy a plain-text summary for your CV or print a dated per-stint table to keep beside the paper form — no account, no upload.
